Psycho

If you think you've seen psycho... Think Again!
Psycho, directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Psycho is a very suspenseful movie, in fact it is one of  the first movie to have suspense and incorporate music. Beginning with a women named Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) on the run after stealing $40,000. Stopping at the Bates Motel, ran by Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Ending in an unexpected psychotic event.

Alfred Hitchcock is the father of suspense. Psycho was made in 1960, the first suspenseful movie. He used music to achieve a suspenseful reaction from viewers. Psycho is adapted from a book, and Hitchcock didn't want anyone to know the ending so he bought as many books as possible. Hitchcock made this movie in black and white because it was too gory in color, and less expensive. He wanted to spend under one million on making this film, which he did for $800,000 and made 40 million. The camera work during the shower contained 57 different camera angles. The lighting was good but it could have been better during night scenes.  The actors did a wonderful job except Norman Bates in one of the last scenes. It just looked fake. Special effects were very effective throughout the film. The best one was at the end, when Norman's mother just
turned around without anyone pushing or turning her. Also how Norman seemed to be in two different places at once, Which helped this film. Nothing that Hitchcock did in the movie had a bad effect on it. He started a new era for horror movies.

I would recommend this movie to people who enjoy suspense or nail biting movies. This is one of the best horror movies I've seen.

Psycho will keep you on your toes. Nothing in this movie is as it seems. if you want to see fun filled suspense.... Watch PSYCHO!!!

The Wiz

Song after song after song.
The Wiz directed by Sidney Lumet. Adapted from the musical by Charlie Smalls and William Brown.

A girl named Dorothy chases after her dog Toto, ended up in a new world. On the adventure she finds three new friends; Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion. Together they encounter many different and challenging events on their journey to the Wiz.

This movie was made in 1978, by then films were pretty advanced. The camera work was fair. There were many music scenes with dancers but in everyone, it was a medium long shot. It would have been nice to seen the dancers and the scenery in a 3/4 shot or even a medium close up. There was a little script, with such big actors such as Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, I would have expected them to have more parts than the tin man played by Nipsty Russelland the Lion played by Ted Ross. Micheal Jackson should have song more songs. This would have helped the movie alot, I really got tired of hearing Diana Ross sing song after song. The lighting was horrible. Throughout the movie everything was so dark and gloomy. Better lighting would have made everything pop. The acting was fair, a little over acted though. Dorothy was very underacted at times, she was very soft spoken and that did not help this movie. Micheal Jackson barely acted at all through the middle and end of the movie. The Lion wasn't supposed to have courage, yet he was the one doing things to protect the others. The special effects were fair also, but there were very few. One of the last scenes in the movie, where Glinda and the background singers are just floating in the sky. It's very obvious that they are connected to stings with a backdrop behind them. For this film to be a musical music scenes are expected, but the songs were just too long. So long that the movie doesn't capture your attention anymore. if the songs would have been shorter and not so many, The Wiz would have been alot better.

No, i wouldn't recommend this film to anyone. If anyone at all just people who enjoy music videos.

Altogether, this was not a good movie, it was fairly poor. Diana Ross was too soft spoken to play Dorothy. The songs were too long for a movie. This movie could have been alot better.

The Wizard of Oz

There's no place like home, but how's life over the rainbow? The Wizard of Oz is directed by Victor Fleming and King Vidor. Fleming directed all the color scenes and Vidor directed all the black and white scenes.

The Wizard of Oz ia all about a young girl named Dorothy. Dorothy wants to leave home to keep her dog Toto. When a roaring tornado spins rapidly Dorothy's life is turned up side down. She goes on an adventure in the land of Oz, meeting three new friends along the way; a scarecrow, a tin man and a loin.

The Wizard of Oz was made in 1939. Because of it was made in the late 30's the camera work, lighting, special effects and script were very advanced. There was very good camera work, but it was pretty noticeable that they were being used but the backdrops emphasizes color. in some scenes the backdrops overlayed the actual set. The paintings on the backdrops were wonderful. This film wasn't only a movie but also a musical, so there was alot of play on sound. They had to have the singing, music and acting all insync. With that being said, all the music scenes were excuted with finess. There was a fair amount of special effects. They were pretty good for the 30's, if watching closly, you can figure out how it was done. This movie was very much over acted. The over acting helped the film.

Yes, I would recommend this movie, to children between the ages of 11 and 14. This is because children between 11 and 14, they are going through a phase where they dont want to be in the house and just want to have fun all day long. Children younger than 11 also just want to paly and have fun but thy wouldn't understand the over all theme; There's no place like home.

In this movie "The Wizard of Oz" Judy Garlin stars as Dorothy. A young girl on an adventure in the unknown land of Oz. This movie is very enjoyable, to add to that, it is also a musical. If you want to find out what Dorothy and her newly found friends encounter in Oz... Go see this movie!

What I Want My Words to Do to You

What do words do to you? Do the words do anything to  you? What I Want My Words to Do to You is a documentary, directed by Eve Ensler.

This document was about women in jail and the crimes they commited and how they feel. Ensler is trying to get these women to open up and explain why they did their crime and the story behind it.

The camera work in this documentay is prety good. Swiching angles alot and extreme close ups helps you see the women's real feelings. There wasn't really any sound or music besides the talking. but the music that was played fit the setting perfectly. The lighting in the classroom setting was fair, it could have been brighter. The setting in the gym was good. The way everything was dark except for the speaker and the prisoner who's story was being read. the actors who were hired to perform the prisoners writings were great. They showed the same emotions that te women did, including crying.

In my opinion, i would recommend this movie because it shows women in jail as real people. Society thinks of evey man or women in jail as a beast or hard core criminal, but not all are. Some people make mistakes and it cause them to lose their life. Some things you can never take back. I would recomment this docmentary to women in jail, the family members of women in jail. Any women, this documentary is very moving and stirs alot of emotions.

"What I Want My Words to Do to You" is all about women in prison sharing their story. These stories are very powerful and moving. If you are a person who enjoys hearing about others and their lives and hardshp... Go see this film.
